Privacy policy
Last updated: 12 October 2026
This policy explains what information Bride To Be collects when you use bridetobe.uk, why we need it, who we share it with and the choices you have. We’ve written it in plain English. If anything isn’t clear, just email us.
1. Who we are
bridetobe.uk is run by Bride To Be, a small business based in the United Kingdom. We are responsible for (the “controller” of) the personal information described here.
Contact: bridetobedigitalco@gmail.com
2. What we collect
If you create an account (couples)
- Account details: your email address and a password. Your password is scrambled (“hashed”) — we can never see it.
- Your wedding plans: everything you add to the planner — your names, wedding date and venue, your story, budget, payments, suppliers, checklist, timeline, seating plan, mood board photos, honeymoon plans and notes.
- Your guest list: the names, mobile numbers and email addresses of your guests, and details such as their meal choice, dietary needs, table and plus-ones (see section 4).
If you’re a guest
- Your RSVP: your name, whether you can come, your meal choice, any dietary needs, your plus-one’s name, a song request and any message you write to the couple.
Everyone
- Searches you make: if you use “Find suppliers” or “Where to stay”, the postcode or town you type is sent to free map services to find places near you (see section 5). If you press “Use my location”, your browser asks your permission first, and your location is used only for that search.
- Basic technical information: like every website, our hosting provider records your IP address and browser type when you visit, to deliver pages and keep the site secure.
We don’t sell your information, we don’t use it for advertising, and we don’t add tracking or analytics tools.
3. Why we use it (and our legal reasons)
| What we do | Our legal reason |
|---|---|
| Create your account, save your plans and run the planner and your wedding website | To provide the service you’ve asked for (contract) |
| Receive your guests’ RSVPs and pass them to you | To provide the service (contract) and our legitimate interest in running RSVPs for couples |
| Send account emails (confirming your email, resetting your password) | To provide the service (contract) |
| Take payment for the Complete Planner (when available) | To provide the service (contract) and to keep records the law requires (legal obligation) |
| Keep the website secure and stop spam or misuse | Our legitimate interest in protecting the service and its users |
| Reply when you contact us | Our legitimate interest in answering your questions |
4. Your guests’ information
When a couple adds guests to their planner, we store those details so the couple can plan their wedding. Guests reply through the couple’s wedding website, and their replies go only to that couple.
- Couples: please only add guests you’re genuinely inviting, and let them know you’re using Bride To Be to manage your invitations and RSVPs. A link to this policy is shown on the RSVP form.
- Dietary needs: these can sometimes reveal health information (such as an allergy) or religious beliefs. They are used only so the couple and their caterer can feed guests safely, and are never shown on the public wedding website.
- What the public can see: a couple’s wedding website shows the couple’s names, date, venue, story, schedule and places to stay to anyone with the link. It never shows the guest list, RSVPs, budget or any other private details.
- Guests: if you’d like your details changed or removed, ask the couple, or email us and we’ll help.
5. Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted services to run the website. They only use your information to provide their service to us.
| Service | What it does | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Stores accounts, wedding plans and RSVPs; sends account emails | London, UK |
| Netlify | Hosts the website | USA and worldwide |
| Google Fonts | Supplies the fonts the website uses (sees your IP address) | USA and worldwide |
| jsDelivr and cdnjs | Supply standard code libraries the website uses (see your IP address) | Worldwide |
| OpenStreetMap, Nominatim, Photon and postcodes.io | Maps, and finding suppliers and places to stay from the postcode or town you type | UK and EU |
| Wikimedia Commons | Supplies the background music files | USA and worldwide |
| A payment provider (when payments are added) | Takes card payments — we never see or store your full card number | We’ll name it here before payments start |
When a service is outside the UK, it’s covered by UK-approved protections for international transfers, such as the UK–US Data Bridge or standard contract terms.
WhatsApp: when you press “Send” to invite a guest, WhatsApp opens on your own phone or computer with a ready-written message. We don’t send anything to WhatsApp ourselves; the message goes through your own WhatsApp account.
We’ll only share information with anyone else if the law requires it (for example, a court order).
6. How long we keep it
- Your account and wedding plans: for as long as your account is open. If you ask us to close it, we delete your wedding, guest list and RSVPs within 30 days.
- Accounts no longer used: we may delete a wedding and its guest list 2 years after the wedding date, or after 2 years without anyone signing in.
- Payment records: kept for 6 years, because UK tax law requires it.
- Emails you send us: kept for as long as we need to help you, and no longer than 2 years.
You can download a full copy of your plans at any time from Backup & export in the planner.
7. Cookies and browser storage
We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies. The website does save a few things in your own browser’s storage so that it works properly:
- keeping you signed in to your planner, and a copy of your plans so pages load quickly;
- remembering if you’ve muted the background music, and your last supplier search.
These are needed for the features you use, so we don’t ask for permission first. You can clear them at any time in your browser settings (you’ll then need to sign in again).
8. Keeping it safe
- All connections to bridetobe.uk are encrypted (the padlock in your browser).
- Each couple can only see their own wedding. Guests can only send a reply — they can’t see anyone else’s details.
- Passwords are scrambled so nobody, including us, can read them.
No website can be 100% secure. If something ever goes wrong that puts your information at risk, we’ll tell you and the Information Commissioner’s Office as the law requires.
9. Your rights
You have the right to:
- see the information we hold about you;
- correct anything that’s wrong;
- delete your information;
- object to or restrict how we use it;
- take a copy to use elsewhere (couples can do this any time with Backup & export).
To use any of these rights, email bridetobedigitalco@gmail.com. We’ll reply within one month. It’s free.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113.
10. Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we’ll update the date at the top and, for big changes, tell couples by email or in the planner.
The planner is for adults aged 18 and over.
